This facility to delete or de-activate the PAN is available with the Assessing Officer through application software.
All this has created confusion about the validity of PAN cards. Here’s a step-by-step guide to check if your PAN card is valid or not.
1) Log on to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and click on ‘Know your PAN’ which is on the left column under the ‘Services’ section.
2) As soon as you click on the ‘Know your PAN’ tab, you’ll be redirected to a page where you are required to fill in your details like name, status, date of birth and contact number.
6) But if you have more than one PAN card registered under the same personal details, a pop-up message will appear that says, “There are multiple records for this query. Provide additional information.” In this case you’ll have to provide your father’s name and other identifaction details.
